I had the same idea for Leeds and around there.

I put a poll on whether there was any interest, turned out there was, so organised a meet. There are now 20 of on the list to come at the end of the month!

What's the worst that could happen.......wait.....don't answer that.

I'm going to clean out the throttle body and the MAF sensor.
Will I need anything besides; carb cleaner, torx screwdriver (T27?), toothbrush/cloth?

Not yet sure I want to try cleaning the inlet manifold and EGR, do the gaskets definitely need to be replace if cleaning the inlet manifold and EGR pipe/valve?

Yep, that should be it.

Doing mine again this weekend but cleaning out the EGR pipe. I didn't use carb cleaner last time but bought some this week.

If you do the EGR pipe you'll need the a flexible shaft (oh er misses) to get to the bottom torx screw on the pipe into the throttle body.

Haven't got the cleaner and lost my torx set one by one over the years, so going to go buy them now.

Got the car booked in for a service on Monday, should I do the cleaning before or after the service?

Probably best after the service.

Yeah after the service mate.

I think I may take my EGR pipe off this weekend and clean the crap out of that too now.

I think once the clean has been done, To keep on top of it and save taking the TB off every time to clean it. I think running the engine at 2k rpm and spraying a good amount of carb cleaner into the air filter box. Giving the build up shouldn't be that bad the good spray into the filter should keep things pretty clean in there...

What do you guys thing?

i hope no one goes to halfords for carb cleaner :P

either screwfix or toolstation.. £2.50 a can i think i paid!

also spraying into the airbox while running works, i did it on the old focus when the ICV was playing up, sorted the idle out for a month or 2!
just make sure the filter isnt on :P

also in regards to the torx bit, the range sell a little kit in a rubber case with magnetic holder, flat head, phillips, allen and torx which has the bits required in there for a bout £2.99

Cleaned it again this weekend, in super fast time!

Bought a flexible shaft to get to the torx screws on the throttle body and the EGR pipe itself, absolute bugger without it!

Does seem to be running smoother now.

I soaked the pipe for a while and swilled the contents with some rice and a bit of petrol.

I was very tempted to take off the whole throttle body unit (the bit that is also attached to the engine) but not sure how much work is involved in doing that?

Anyone have any ideas?
