I've just changed my heater panel bulbs with genuine volvo part number 30864099
Looking at this thread they are a different part number but fit and work fine, or have I gone and fitted the wrong bulbs if that's at all possible??

and just ordered these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2009071519...84.m1497.l2649 for the Phase 1 heater control panel - T5 fitment again in blue would seem to be correct.

Only £6 delivered for the lot - I will report back when fitted - if they dont work I can stomach a £6 loss but can't see why they wouldnt if they fitting is right
Any update if they fitted ok, or some pics?

Sorry mate they didnt work :-( thankfully they were cheap enough for it not to really matter but I will need to get genuine ones from Volvo unless anyone can provide a link to aftermarket ones which definately fit

I put the original blue cap on the new bulb.

5 minutes, which for me is good going!
This might help anyone with a phase 1 or some 1.5's looking for heater bulbs.

They look spot on for the heater panel bulbs - does anyone have an aftermarket option for the Headlamp switch bulb ? cheapest I have seen the genuine Volvo one for is about £5 !!

I just bought a Volvo one. If I remember correctly there's only one on the light switch panel. Might explain why the fog lamp switches can't be seen in the dark!
And having paid Volvo's price, when I needed one for the heater switches I took the old one with me to the local motor factors. Found one that looked right, even though the plastic holder was a different colour, thought it was worth trying...struck lucky.

I think I might be duplicating information here, but I can verify that I bought these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=200921436325

...in the T4 variant and I've successfully fitted them in both the headlight/foglight/dimmer switches on the right and in the HVAC controls in the centre. This seems a bit counter intuitive as Volvo fits different bulbs in these two units but the ones I ordered fit both units and DO work.

Things to bear in mind are that with LEDs polarity does matter so it's trial and error as to which way works. I struck lucky with two out of three right first time in each unit. If it's the wrong way round then there's no damage - they just need flipping round through 180 degrees.

The results are good for the headlight switch, though it is very bright. On the HVAC unit the new lights are a little shorter than the original bulbs and the light from them is a little more directional. This means that the light distribution isn't quite as even as it is with the incandescent bulbs, though I'm happy enough with it.

Be aware that the factory bulbs have blue caps on yellow bulbs, giving green light. If you buy blue LEDs like I did then your dashboard will be very blue indeed. It's not unattractive though.

Oops - pertinent info: 2002 Ph2 1.9d

Default S40 dash bulbs

Info re changing bulbs much appreciated.
I spoke to my normal Volvo dealer, normally quite good, and they told me that it would require taking the dashboard out!!!!! (with the commensurate charge for doing so!!)
When I get around to it I'll order the bulbs, from the recommended supplier in the article, and do the job myself.
Once again, many thanks.
