Why don't you just ask Don? He can see this post anyhow, so you might as well.
I've never met Don, or spoken to him, but having been around performance volvos and various forums for quite a few years now, he's one of the few performance parts suppliers that you never hear a bad word said about. In fact it's often he opposite. And that must say something in itself. MTE have also been a round for an age also, where as most mappers are fly by night Cowboys. I'd imagine the XP based software is a reality of trying to remap relatively ancient ECU architecture. Pays your money, takes your chances. Good luck. Cheers, Morgan |

I went to MTE as i read a few worrying stories about another tuning company where there were issues and i never heard anything bad about MTE or Don. If i bought another XC90 with the D5 engine i'd certainly be back in contact with Don to have it remapped again. When i got mine the process involved downloading a copy of the current software from the car, emailing it to Don, who then sent it over to a chap in Sweden (i think his name was Marcel). A day later they then sent over a modified version of it, which was then uploaded. The idea behind this is that all the Volvo software updates are then built into the remap software and you can tailor the strength of the map (from memory i went for a "mid" strength torque remap), whereas an off-the-shelf one is generic and not tailored to your car, so you might lose software updates or - at worst - if there was a problem the tuner might not be able to tweak it themselves to resolve it. Yes, i thought at the time i had mine done it was more expensive than a lot of others, but as it was an individual map with the ability to deal directly with Don who is/was involved in motorsport rather than another firm who sell a lot cheaply, i felt this gave me a lot more confidence in the product. hope this helps. |

Softloader embedded software & tuned file
I am looking for the ipd/MTE Softloader software that you get back from ipd/MTE when you have used the 'MTE Vehicle Identification Tool' to take a readout of your standard ECU
This is the Softloader software that allows you to 'write' the tuned file onto your ECU. I believe it comes in a .zip file bundle which includes both the software and your tuned file. Can anyone help? |

Can I buy from anyone just the [MTE] software? I have the ipd interface and the 'MTE Vehicle Identification' software. I just need the embedded software bundle that ipd/MTE send back to the customer allowing him/her to write the tuned software to his/her ECU.
This is it:- "You unzip the tuned file that you received back from ipd/MTE and run the setup folder and you will get the MTE Softloader icon on your desktop, the files themselves will be in C:\Program Files\MTE\MTE Soft-Loader." I just want the contents of the setup folder! |

Do you perhaps mean that you are trying to load a copy of MTEs proprietary software as opposed to buying it from them, or do I misunderstand?

Plus, Don the sole distributor of MTE in the UK is on this forum and expect he would take action against anyone trying to illegally resell or buy the product.
