Default Fuel filler lock delay

Went to look at fixing my fuel filler cap that doesnt sdeem to lock, but it was locked.
If I lock with the remote it stays open. Waited about 5 mins and got bored, so thought it was a fluke. Went back after a shower and it was locked.
Is thios normal?

Thanks

Apparently it enables you to fill up at a garage with the car locked while you go to pay, there is a several minute delay on the fuel flap to enable you to do this. clever these Swedes.

Yeah, it's normal. I guess it's so you can pull up at the pump, lock the car, and then still have time to fill up, and close the flap properly afterwards..

A normal feature to allow you to lock the car and fill up, takes about 10 mins if I remember rightly

I think its one of those features which can be adjusted through VIDA software, can't remember the options but time can be changed or reduce to zero so the fuel locks at the same time as the doors.

FYI the automatic locking on the US models is different -- there is no timed locking. The fuel door locks when the car is put in drive and reaches a certain speed.

Why? Who is going to open the flap when you are driving at speed??

Good point, I would think its more likely aimed at when the driver crashes? Unless there is a delay on unlocking, wouldn't the fuel filter be open anyway - crash = zero speed

As you drive away from the fuel station, the fuel door locks automatically. and stays locked until opened with a button on the dash. In the US and Canadian models the central locking has no control over the locking or unlocking of the fuel door. There is a button on the dash under the headlight control which unlocks the fuel door.

In the North American set-up if one unlocks the fuel door on the parked vehicle, but then does not drive away, the fuel door stays unlocked until the car is driven.
