Default HU605 increase audio level

I tried a search on this thread for "Audio level increase HU605" and i got a link to a lambda sensor and summat else!

There is a "trick" to increasing the HU605 audio levels, cant find it in the book but I know it was mentioned previously. Anyone remind me pls.

Only joking...

What exactly do you mean by levels, do you mean increasing bass and treble from the user controls? Or adjusting gain or other characteristics buried within the HU/amp somehow?

The HU605 (and maybe others) come with a VOLVO easy on your ears level of volume as standard, so you cant sue them for deafness.
There is a "trick" to bypass this artificial low level audio setting. Summat like "hold button * when turning on and turn source (or other) to increase user volume. Might be something to do with hidden equaliser settings. IIRC the CD player has summat to do with it.

Google HU-605 Hidden menu and you can tinker with some of the audio parameters. Also you might want to check the front door speakers for age related wear. Some can pick up moisture damage and light corrosion due to faliure/damage to the plastic door seal behind the trim.

To access hidden equaliser..
I think it goes like this ....
Turn off the radio,
Press & hold source knob & turn radio back on,
Keep source knob pressed until the equaliser menu is shown on display.
To change the settings rotate source knob to required setting & then press it to move on to the next settings... & so on.
When you've finished press, or turn any of the other knobs/ buttons to exit the menu.
Not sure, but i think that the radio & cd can have different settings ?.. to set cd player settings,. play a cd, turn off unit, Then back on whilst holding source knob, then continue as for radio.

Ah magnuz, that has struck a cord with me, using a CD in the slot, I knew there was a connection.
Thanks lads, I'll have a play.
PS I took the 605 out and put in a double din flip up screen device, it was a cheapie but: It had no A.F. to keep the signal and it didn't recognise radio stations, then the screen got unresponsive, it had all the bells n whitstles but typically from GoneWrong they didn't all gel together, so the 605 has gone back in.
To get hands free ive gone with a cigarette lighter socket plug in. Over the years the audio quality of these have gone up.

Cig lighter bluetooth receivers are okay but are still not as good as a hard wired variant for sound quality, in my experience they are quite 'flat' sounding. Interesting to hear about the hidden equalizer settings though, will definitely have a go at this myself.

Yep, magnuz got it spot on. My levels were on 3 right thru. Increased them to 6. Would make a drug baron look hard now at the traffic lights! PS you can still fine tune with the usual Bass/treble etc.
