Got the Lucas Transmission Additive and drained out another 3.5 litres and replaced with new and added he Lucas stuff, the fluid was a very dark colour, and this is after almost 40 litres of 3309 flushed through it !! Only done about 4,000 miles since changes, also Beware if using the Lucas stuff, it is the Consistency of Treacle, try and mix with the new fluid by stirring, NOT like I did , just put in a jug added the ATF found the fluid went fairly quickly then the Lucas was underneath, they were still Seperate !!!

went to change oil and found drain plug all but rounded off and solidly screwed in place, thanks 'specialist' volvo garage, did you put it on with an impact gun or something..
grr.. ordered a new sump plug, will fight with that later. found that what I thought was about 10mm loss of oil on stick was actually me being parked on a slight hill obviously because checking again today on the drive it's not budged at all in 14 months (6k miles) and still fairly treacly in colour. so no major rush replaced rear right lower light cluster which was more of a pain in the arse than I expected but still, half hour job. old one had a small but noticeable ugly mark on it and I saw one for £40 on ebay, good as new played around with jack / block of wood / engine and found that my top mount is dead, which was not as obvious before now, others seem to be ok far as I can tell. ordered polybush replacement and the strut brace bush kit. hoping that's the cause of the slight clonking I get on uneven roads / side to side movement (already replaced gearbox mount) going over straight bumps like speed bumps was fine, no noise at all. ARB bushings seem ok if slightly aged Last edited by stuart bowes; Oct 3rd, 2021 at 19:51. |

Got oil drain plug out, replaced with new, in the end I just hammered on a 16mm and that got it. Carefully..
Oil change, new square style engine mount at top, new mount under the pulleys, general clean up, cable tied a few pipes, still trying to stop the random knocking noise that doesn't seem to have any real pattern to it but definitely sounds like drivers side front |

"... knocking noise that doesn't seem to have any real pattern to it but definitely sounds like drivers side front."
Inspect the engine mount at the crank pulley. It crushes (ages) straight down. Remove the driver's side front wheel, remove 2 10mm sheet metal nuts and fold back the fender liner. |

replaced that today, tbh the old one looked ok really other than a bit grubby, but it's new now anyway. not heard the knock again yet but time will tell
interesting, do you mean fold it away from the wheel, or away from subframe / pulley area. Funny enough i did wonder when it was looking at it today whether it would flap about. was thinking of making a small hole near the bottom and tying it back to the subframe I found a few other things as well like a couple of heavy-duty-ish pipes under the pully end that should be clipped to the subframe (over the wishbone bolt heads) and one had come loose, that's the one I cable tied back also there's a weird plastic tubing attached to the water bottle that seems to be some sort of overflow runoff or something, comes out underneath the rad. that was a bit loose so I made sure it was more firmly fixed Last edited by stuart bowes; Oct 11th, 2021 at 18:25. |

That's exactly what it is - it stops water/screen cleaner overflowing and ending up in the local light and other electrics of which there are many!!

Fitted rear discs & pads to my Dad’s V70 P3 yesterday. I used VIDA to retract the electric handbrake, which was handy. I’ve used the battery trick with reverse polarity in the past, but decided to use VIDA this time.
On Tuesday, I fitted some rear shock absorbers to a Ford Transit.
