Default 240 GL Estate automatic

I have recently aquired a Volvo 240 GL estate from a close friend of mine . It is of no real use to me now , I used it for a small house move to help someone out .Vast amount of room in the rear with the seats folded down !

The car has a twin electrics towbar fitted and works fine , no problems there . The car comes with a stack of reciepts from previous owners , with one showing a brand new engine was fitted from a Volvo main dealer at a price of over £2,000 ! Hence the reason why the mileage is now only showing around 67,000 miles . The car had a new speedo at the time of engine replacement .

Also in one of the reciepts its shown that it had a replacement auto box and torque convertor around 50,000 miles ago . As mentioned there are just so many reciepts with the cars service history , it would take some time to list all what its had spent over the years . I mention the engine and gearbox as their are the main concerns when buying an old used car .

Small bits of rust around rear wheel arches but nothing major , im sure a weekends work would sort that out should you wish too .

Everything works on the car appart from the passenger heated seat doesnt seem to warm up , and the interior light doesnt work but this only needs a bulb . At the moment my camera has decided to stop working , but I will endever to try and get some pictures up as soon as I possibly can .

If your looking for a reliable workhorse then surely is for you . Dont forget this car only 67,000 miles ago had a brand new engine supplied and fitted by Volvo main dealer .

TAX UNTIL END OF JANUARY 2009 AND SUPPLIED WITH AN MOT UNTIL MID MAY 2009 , JUST INSURE IT AND DRIVE AWAY .

£400

Looks like a nice car.

In other circumstances I'd be interested but:

a. I need to MOT and sell my 960
b. My new 460 could use some time/money/TLC to get it up to the condition I'd like
c. I've been talking to Foggy James for ages about having his 240 when the time is right for both of us.

That im unsure of exactly . I think it may have been around 170,000 .

Pretty amazing in that there are no bangs or rattle from the suspension . I guess that comes with being well looked after mechanically by the previous keepers .

Im open to offers on the car , as it really is just taking up valuable space here now . I'd take £350 .

I'm glad it's gone Stiggy, as I 've been racking my brains to work out how to justify a trip to collect & the cost of getting it over here & then re-registering!

I thought that as SWMBO's 480 is seriously giving us grief now, that his 'n' hers 240 estates would be sort of cool.

I'll relax now & forget it LOL
