Wiring diagram for 1991 940 GL
Hello to the Volvo club, my first posting from a surprisingly warm lake district. Just spent the evening trying to sort out an electrical problem on my trusty 185k miles 1991 940 GL estate: the high beam failing to switch on from dipped beam, leaving an exciting moment in the dark switching quickly back to dipped beam, may be quite common I understand? It is an intermittent fault after long drives, and recovers given a few minutes, making it difficult to find, but suggesting a relay to me.
I could really do with a wiring diagram for the lights circuit, as it predates the Haynes manual version. Can anyone help? I have identified the "k" relay which appears to be the main lighting relay, and also the relay furthest right front row which does the headlight flashing. The next relay left does the rear fog lights if that gives any more clues to the wiring layout. Thanks, Paul. |

Hello and welcome to the forum. I have just scanned some pages for you; taken from a 1991 940 manual. The early 940s must be getting a little thin on the ground now.

Thank you very much, that looks a lot more familiar.
The car is getting on a bit, but other than a failed brake servo a couple of years back it has been remarkably trouble-free (its been in my family from nearly-new). I reckon it might outlast my friend's brand new vauxhall! Cheers, Paul. |
