Biodiesel
Has anybody had any experience of running a D5 2.4 on biodiesel. i am considering making my own biodiesel with a propriety kit (Fen Diesel) and would like to now if the engine will run ok on this stuff also will it mix ok with normal diesel? Any help would be greatly appreciated. My car is an XC70 D5 geartronic.

It is not really advised to run common rail diesels on biodiesel and this thread says Volvo advise only 5% biodiesel in the D5
http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/archiv...p/t-35577.html In a non common-rail your seals and pipes will eventually deteriorate due to biodiesel not having the lubricity of diesel so they need to be changed over to 'viton' ones but I think that you would have to make more adjustments than that in a common rail due to the high pressure fuel system. You need to change your fuel filter frequently after change over to biodiesel also. I know some people on here have been running their common rails on biodiesel without problems but I wonder how long until they run into problems?
