Diesel smoke
Just noticed this, though I m sure everything is ok.
Noticed yesterday as I pulled out of a junction a harder than usual when the engine was cold after sitting still for a minute or so a bit of a cloud of grey/ black smoke came out of the exhaust as I moved off. During normal driving when cold and warm nothing at all, noticed that when I boot it really hard from a standstill in first gear there is a small amount of what I would call normal diesel coloured smoke puffs out the exhaust but this is only when pushed as hard as it can be When booted hard on the kickdown nothing. I generally drive like a bit of an old fart to save fuel. Would the initial when cold be the engine over fuelling slightly when cold and the harder acceleration just be clearing the exhaust system a bit. The car is running a BSR remap and runs beautifully and is more economical than before. I hadn't noticed it before, but then I don't normally look behind as I pull out. Can anybody assist with what is normal with a modern ish diesel. I have a 2002 D5 with 79k on the clock. Cheers

Hi mate,
Everything is normal, just due to drop in temp and engine being cold..
