Default 740 cambelt change

I have recently bought a belt for this and it is a contitech CT 704 119Z. The box is marked up for a vw lt 2.4 diesel and turbo diesel 1983 onwards. Any confirmation on the suitablity for the 740 turbo diesel would be appreciated.
Regards
David

For the 940 anyway all the belts sold post 11/1992 have 120 teeth. So if your car is earlier than this a 119 belt will fit.
To be completely safe count the teeth on the one you take off.

Job done and not sure but MPG seems better at 40 whereas before it was 36,I have replaced the pump belt as well so could be that.

Obviously you managed to get the timing spot on. I didn't do quite so well - like you I changed both belts but could not manage to get the camshaft in the correct position when tightening the front and rear sprockets.

I cannot take the credit. The previous owner did it for me. He does seem to be a very good mechanic and has looked after the engine very well.
