Default LED DRLs in fogs

Hi,

I'm new and I have just ordered a new V50 R-design. The car comes with the LED DRLs in the fog light position, does anyone have any pictures of how these look on a real car when lit? I can find some Volvo pics, but I really want some real life shots.

Also, with the LED DRLs running, does that mean the main headlights/sidelights are not lit?

Cheers,

Jim

Hi, yes I've seen these on a brand new V50, there is an earlier thread see this link:

http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...hlight=led+drl

They look pretty cool but at the loss of the front fogs. Personally I prefer to have the front fogs.

These are instead of having the normal DRL's on I believe, the car I saw definitely did not have it's lights on as well.

yes with these LED running lights volvo have done a U turn and followed the masses by turning off rear lights as well after 35 years, only the LED running lights are on .
There is an extra A position on the light switch , if the light level falls then the LEDS go out and dip beam comes on .

regarding looks , well they are just like a LED fog light really ..

Thats Great!!!
Is that mean that I can install aftermarket LED light instead somewhere on a front? (like philips or other DRL)
Will this work on MY2005?
I really like to keep fogs.

Does anyone with these get flashed/pulled because other drivers think you are running with foglights on?

I usually get quite annoyed when a car comes at me with the Fog lights on and it's generally thought of as being a nuisance. I've noticed recently a huge amount of 'normal' cars running with the front fogs on, I wonder if they are just copying the similar style of these new 2011 models?

LED's in this Volvo's fog position are unlikely to produce any 'beam' as such but they can be extremely bright at times - like the Audi/Merc ones.

When I'm on foot patrol often stops drivers from misuse of fog lights! But many officers aren't bother for £30 FPN then rather fill one for mobiles (£60 + 3pts) I agree recently many drivers put fog lights on for some reason. It doesn't look cool at all! Fog should be use only when visibility is lower than 100m (330feet)!!! That look which is presented by the new cars can have effect on this. Like new VW and Mercs switch left or right fog light when car is turning! Is this that really that much visibility improvement?

I would like to fit DRL on my car but don't want to disable front fogs (may need them one day or night).
From Volvo adventures manual will I gonna have to skip point about removing fog light fuse (f29) and then replace R4 relay and power drl-s form f33 (on picture 10A in manual should be 20A Lambda-sond (5cyl.), vacuum pump (5cyl.) filter heater (diesel))?
What else would be different?
regards
