Default Internal door lock indicator/button/knob

Hi all, for a few months now, my passenger internal door lock button has been detached and rattling about, seemingly getting quieter when I lock the doors while driving - it's the thing that pops up and down when you unlock/lock the car.

I took the door card off today in the hopes to re-attach it, but I'm not able to access to see or feel anything without taking off the inner skin holding the door module, window motor etc.
The lock/button is on a metal stalk and looks like it has popped out of something...

Can anyone shed any light on removing the window motor and internal skin? Is the window going to drop? Being 3.30pm on Sunday I opted not to move forward and to "fix" the rattle by removing the entire button and metal rod for now...

Has anyone tackled this before?
