V70 Fuel Gauge & Indicator Issue
This may have been covered in the forum but I couldn’t find anything to help so forgive me. I believe my newly acquired 1997 V70 may have a fuel guage problem. It seems stuck on the 3/4 full position although I haven’t really pushed it hard past. It does return to zero when you turn off. I can just sense it’s not working and in addition, the miles to zero indicator on the information display is increasing in increments of five miles instead of decreasing as I travel! For example it reads on 3/4 of a tank: 160, 165, 170, 175…..etc. Anyway, any suggestions, help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Level sender float in the fuel tank somehow restricted or damaged? Wiring damaged/corroded? Incorrectly installed prior to your ownership?
As a result your Info Centre readings will not be accurate. I'd be starting there.

I seemed to have a very similar problem some years back on my '97 V70 petrol:~
I decided to remove the pump & float- thinking that it would be a difficult task- turned out to be quite straight forward with care (threaded plastic cover on the unit) once removed a cleaned, nothing obvious showing a fault though all has been fine since. Hope it helps. Bob. |
