Default '01 V&) T5 with DTSC error

As title suggests, our 2001 V70 T5 is giving a DTSC error message. I'd hoped that an OBD scanner would flag the problem, but my mechanic says no. He also didn't think it would be a broken wheel sensor - I'd hoped that would be the issue and that I could order one cheaply on the internet rather than put up with the local Volvo monkeys.

Is it just his scanner not giving all the error codes, and if so if I buy an OBD2 scanner will it tell me what the problem is?

Or is this a reasonably well known issue? The car is performing well in other respects apart from devouring tyres like Nigella Lawson at a cake stall.

TIA,

Simon.

An OBDII scan tool won't read ABS codes on a Volvo or any other make.

You need a Volvo specific scan tool.
