Default 20% performance increase - I doubt it!

Evening all.

Whilst doing one of my regular 240 searches on ebay I came accross this - I am highly sceptical and cant see how it could possibly work. If something seems to good to be true..............

A 2p resistor that works on the air flow meter wiring.

The dragstrip guys in the states often use this 'mod' which is where the idea was lifted from.

On a Pro street racer, yeah you'll get great gains. On a standard car? Not a chance. maybe 2bhp, but do you really want to go playing? I'd rather pay for a chip. I'll try and find the 'proper' website for it. I used to have it in favourites on the other computer.

Nothing would induce me to start modifying anything along this lines - I was simply intrigued by the claim and wondered if it had any basis in reality. I am more than happy with standard performance!

It is a 'true' thing. It will gain performace by fooling the engine management into enrichening the fuel.

Easiest way achieve the same is to route the airflow coming in so it draws cooler air.

All IMHO...

The artificially enriched fuel mixture is detected by the Lambda sensor which tells the ECU to back the mixture off so the net result is close to zero unless the engine is revving really hard i.e. 5k plus then there is some increase in output. Who the hell revs a 240 to 5K. Could help with towing and long sustained loads at higher revs but that's it. Regards Peter
