Hi,

I doubt that either driver would have survived.
Deformation of the vehicles (both) was well into the cabin, well into the footwell.

Best to avoid a collision then have one..

Hi,

You will see that the volvo driver will have very crunchy legs.
The "A" pillar has been shoved and deformed.
Wheel was by the seat.

Shure you may have lived after the accident, but if an ambulance wasn't there in a few minutes you'd die from there being no blood left to fill the car!

I remember seeing that when done on TV for 5th gear...

one thing i would like to add is this all crash test that are done now on modern cars are done at 35 mph or 40 mph well i would love to see a vid of s40 hiting a 940 with both doing 60mph then u will see the real truth like here is a s40 crash test http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bkIqUCoP9w

this one how ever is what seems like a 740 estate hiting a stationary vauxhal opel hiting the opel at 67 mph posibial if u are on the motor way and not looking what is in front of u ie like all the cars have stoped lol
well have a look but ctc notice how the dorrs havent moved out of line showing that up to 60 mph the good old tank is still the winner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQPca-aTlL0

and last but not leas my fav the top gear volvo crash test

I'm glad I wasn't in either of them - ANY survivor would be left in a wheelchair, or worse. Both cars rolled so their occupants would have been thrown around and those in the front seats would almost certainly have lost their legs.

Kinetic energy is what does the damage: at 60mph you've got to get rid of a lot more than at 40mph (don't know, but I think it's a logarythmic progression).

Me, I'd sooner just watch than take part, and preferably not even be around at the time.

Yes, it's related to the speed squared - a car travelling at 60mph (and also the driver inside!) will have 2.25 times as much kinetic energy as at 40 mph, with inevitable effects on metal, flesh and bone.
