Hi Daim,

Thanks for your response.

Pardon my lack of knowledge but where is the waterfall console?

Mine unfortunately does have a dpf which was replaced by dealer about 8 months ago along with the tank and also additive of course.

The car has 99K miles on clock.

The accelarator just feels like the car isn't responding with the pedal and the pedal is much harder to push with the remap on as opposed to the remap not on.

Are the two software fault codes normal for a remapped car?

Many thanks

The "waterfall" is the radio controls. Volvo states it as either floating console or waterfall

Those codes shouldn't appear at all... If the remap causes them, then the remap isn't the correct one.

The car does seem to drive fine without the map but its strange how they gave me 2 maps and both do not work.

But RICA want me to travel some 120 mile round trip to one of their authorised dealers to have diagnostics done. He did not even mention that there were software fault codes in the car when I did this trip.

Then he wanted me to leave the car there which wasn't an option as I needed it over that weekend. And in all honesty I'm just not willing to do such a long trip anymore.

the extra 100nm of torque to 450nm transforms the car
lag has been reduced at low revs and power delivery extended beyond 3000k to around what feels like clean power right up to 4000k especially in 4th gear

6th gear at 60mph the torque effortlessly enables no change down and ample torque to overtake

so far my own experience is that this is a must have modification
extended use may highlight other mechanical weaknesses as in most power gain modifications which are also dependent on the user
but this car drives like the factory should have designed it in the first place.

you may or may not agree but imo, depending on rrp's, don't buy a d4, put your hard earned into a higher spec d3 and tune it.

that's my two pence worth to anyone considering tuning this model
Hey Mate

How you getting on with your tuned D3? I'm still sitting on the fence.

Very interesting to see how these 2 litre "D5"'s react to tuning . However it i owned this car i would make sure it had the latest headgasket fitted if manufactured before christmas 2010 after which volvo used an improved gasket with better sealing, i am sure yours will be later than this though . Would be nice to get a twin turbo manifold set up next :-)

They have to account for different grades of fuel & different climates around the world.
It's a compromise to allow the car to run properly wherever it is sold.

Default Which tune to go for?

Hello All,

I've recently become the happy owner of a C30 D3(2011-24,000miles). I was aware before I bought it that it's a detuned D4.

I'd be happy with the D4 retune (177hp, 400Nm), as volvo sell it in this state. Therefore all parts should hold up fine.

Question is: if I do the Rica 201hp, 450Nm remap, will everything hold up.

I've never modified a car - but I am an engineer, so all help appreciated

Dmck3 - how's your car holding up with the Rica mod?

Phil

I was just wondering how the Rica 201BHP tune was going, I have an V50 R Design D3 but chose not to have the tune done as I couldn't find anyone to insure it because it was more than 24% of the original quoted 150 bhp figure. The D4 177 I wouldn't have a problem with insurance wise.
