Default STRANGE anyone else had this? Clutch

So went for a drive 50+ miles parked up all is fine returned to the car later started it up but the clutch pedal seemed lower than normal and just managed to get it into gear so drove back and on returning home the clutch pedal was on the floor couldnt get any gears
After pricing up a DM clutch and wondering if I may need a DM flywheel as well I decided to just pull the pedal up and pump it the master cylinder needed about 1/4” of fluid in and now it’s working fine no knocks no bangs no slipping no leaks all seems perfect drove 20 miles and no fluid loss pedal is high pulls like it should 2.4 D5 engine
Any thoughts because something caused the pedal to drop
Baffled !!

You "burped" your clutch hydraulics?

A slight weep in the pipework from fluid reservoir to connection with concentric slave cylinder, slight leak of slave cylinder[it's inside the bellhousing so won't be immediately obvious? Other than those the take off for the clutch fluid is set higher than that for the brakes so a slight leak on the braking system would result in a drop of fluid level and the first thing to stop working would be the clutch.

Thanks dippydog
Cant find any dripping or leaks anywhere but obviously not looked at the slave cylinder nothing showing around that area as yet but could be a slight leak in there nothing has contaminated the clutch as yet (touch wood) so just going to keep checking the master cylinder fluid level

Hopefully this is some sort of strange anomaly[but I've never come across such a thing, but then I don't know everything]the problem with the concentric slave as I'm sure you well know is that to check it you have to remove the gearbox and you don't want to be doing that unless absolutely necessary! So yes keep a careful eye on it in case it happens again.
