Default oil & filter change on v50 2.0 diesel

I'm going to change the engine oil and filter tomorrow, is there a 'how to' thread ? or any tips like where is the filter situated. I have the parts already.
cheers.

Default Fuel pipe

When you try and get the filter holder out, don't disconect the diesel fule pipe 'it will be in the way'. If you do you risk getting air into the fuel system and it's a real pain to get sorted. You can sort of lean the holder over to the right under the pipes and get it out.

The oil filter on the 2.0d is a canister type and requires a 27mm socket amd a long extension + ratchet to undo, there is a torque reccomendation for doing it up as well but i cant remember what it is off the top of my head, the actual sump plug is an 8mm (i think) allen type, cant remember the torque again but the washer for it is compressable. Hope this helps.

Dont do what I did, lower the car onto the container holding the waste oil,
makes a big mess of your gravel drive!
Agree with previous, the oil filter is too well hidden away.

I had a look at the service kit I ordered in for my 2.0d and was surprised that the volvo boxes contained ford and Citroën filters. Well I know its a Citroën engine but they could least have had the filter makers stamp Volvo on it if they are going to charge 50% more for the same filters.

I would look into that , i smell a rat , Volvo wont be selling citroen branded goods for sure !
The volvo 2.0 D fuel filter boxes have filters which are not branded at all . They should also come with a sealed plastic bag containing an instruction sheet , two white stoppers , a red stopper and a yellow stopper .

The actual oil filter element should be shrink wrapped and contain a thick brown sealing rubber ring in the shrink wrapping ...

They were supplied by Taggarts the volvo factor for the central Scotland area. They were sealed but the oilfilter has Peugeot and Citroën symbols, the fuel.filter had fomoco impregnated on it and the pollen filter said volvo.

The rising oil level problem on the larger models but no problems with the 2.0D volvo are just playing it safe . 4.8 against what used to be 5.3 ish ...
