Hi Paul,

I'm searching for a C70 at the moment too. This might interest you, Asking too much money in my opinion, should be around 2,500 or less with 64k and on a 54 plate (and if mint), you might be able to get the price down - winter is coming!

A nice car, but overpriced, especially as it is the two litre married to an auto and not the GT spec. The Dolby Surround Sound with Dynaudio speakers has to be heard to be believed.

Roger that.

- The two litre auto is significantly underpowered.
- Premium sound (identifiable by centre speaker) has Dolby and rear subs, it's really something else. Downside is tricky to attach MP3/Aux in - you need a gadget like the Grom or Yatour.
- The lighter interiors wear and age more quickly. The biscuit brown colour on collection models is gorgeous.... (IMO)

Default Deposit

Just put a deposit on a 55 plate T5 auto GT spec. Silver [yawn] with black interior, 80k miles, full volvo service history, major service carried out and cam belt changed.
In pretty good condition, not perfect but sounds and goes very well.
Hopefully picking it up in about a week.

At the risk of speaking a heresy, I spent ages looking at C70s and they were all dogs, so I bought a Saab 900NG (its an earlier version of the first 9-3). Its about a foot shorter and a hell of a lot easier to get in and out of. The C70 feels like exactly what it is - a car maker's first attempt at making a decent convertible. As soon as I test-drove a Saab it was clear it was the product of a firm that had over a decade of experience at convertibles, and a C70 was never going to be good enough after that.

You are aware of the cracking bulkhead on these arn't you? If not, get it checked out and there is a brace that can fitted to prevent a crack from starting. Nice cars but personally, I don't like the vectra connection.

I at least wasn't. Do you have any pics of what to look for and pics of the brace?

the cracking bulkhead only really affects a few specific batches of these cars made in certain months and years - I checked and mine wasnt one of them. Also its unheard of with N/A versions and actually very rare on the turbos, and a sign that the vehicle's been comprehensively thrashed. If you want to check for a cracked bulkhead, turn off the engine and crank the steering wheel from left full lock to right full lock while holding your feet in the gaps between the three pedals. If the pedals move sideways while cranking the steering without power assistance, then the bulkhead is cracked

I am aware of the steering rack brace option but havent fitted it and won't be doing so as its unnecessary !

A 900 shares about 28% of its chassis parts with a Vectra, a 9-3 shares even less. They even have a different wheelbase..
