C30/S40/V50's had them also, as well as Ford era Jaguar. Doesn't make a massive difference, but still worth having.

The system is quite intelligent and wont start the fans on defrost until there is some warmer air to blow around.

It works well, I think (here anyway). Maybe if we were in a freezing cold place, that little electric element would be no use.

I'm not complaining. My car is warm quickly for a diesel!

There was a PTC element used to supplement heating in semi-cold markets.
