Default Finding the right cam...

Hi folks,

I'm building a B20 for road use.
I have here an 'F' cam which I am reliably informed has the following spec:

Valve lift 11.4
Knockvinkle (!) 111 deg. (ah, I think from b20f's link in my other post, this is a reference to the exhaust valve lobe centres)
Duration 300 deg.

I only have a very basic understanding of what these figures could mean, but from what I understand a 300 deg. duration may be too radical for road use?
So I was thinking of buying a well known and established cam such as the 'K' which I understand is a great cam for road use with the B20.
However as I already have the 'F' (it came with a job lot of parts) I would like to rule it out as a possibility first before shelling out any hard earned dosh on a 'K'.
Can anyone confirm my thoughts or offer any useful advice?
BTW what is a Knockvinkle when it's at home (sounds painful)?

Many thanks,

Gordon

Your F cam might not be for a B18/B20

If the cam has both oil pump and dizzy drive it should be the correct cam.

Derek,

Again to the rescue! Thanks.

"F 300° 111° 11,4 mm Rek för trimtopplock & dubbla 45r"

I would hazard a guess to the "dubbla 45r" as being a reference to the cam spec being designed for use with twin Webbers.

This really would answer my question and confirm that I should just go for a K cam as I will be sticking with the SUs.
I checked with Simon at Brookhouse and he's doing K cams for not much more than a decent curry for two...

Well I'm getting there.
I'll let you know how the project goes.
