Default Phone speed dials - XC60 2015

Hi
I have an XC60 2012 and have just purchased a 2015 too.
On my 2012 I can programme the number keys as speed dials for popular contacts. Is this possible on the 2015 model as I am struggling to do it.
Thanks
A

Can't you just pair your phone with the car and use the thumb wheel to select who to call.Mind you mine Is a S60 so it might be different ?

I can but with a few thousand contacts in my phone that is a pain staking job.

I do have a few regular contacts and having speed dials 2-9 is really handy on my older XC60.

Thumb-wheel-up gives all contacts while thumb-wheel-down gives recents. I use this to call my regulars because they're always in the top-10 recents.

Mind you, maybe it's other way around (up for recents and down for all contacts).

In the manual I didn't find any reference to 1-9 speed dial assignment

I know the up and down functions, but when you jump in the car and just press and '2' 'call' and it rings the right person this was a really useful function, without having to look at the screen.

Will have to rely on voice dialling then which takes about 2 minutes to get the right contact and then start ringing!

Thanks
