Default usb in centre arm rest

Hi I have a 2013 xc60 D5.
When I plug a usb stick with mp3 files into my usb I select the media button then scroll to usb but it wont find or play the mp3 music files.
Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas please?

My media system won't play mp3 audio files, hence I always convert music files to mp4 or AAC format and then have no problems playing from a usb stick.
Maybe worth checking the manual as I believe it's covered there.

You maybe just need to format your usb stick to the FAT32 format.

I use a 64GB USB stick with over 6000 MP3 tracks on it, all set out in folders. Works OK usually but sometimes on start up it forgets where it is and goes back to track 1.

The file/Folder Limit is 1000. Otherwise playlists and remembering last position doesn't work. ->Manual

Shine a torch into the USB socket to check if any of the pins are damaged/bent. Mine wouldn't recognise any device or charge my phone. On closer inspection, it had a bent pin.
Part was about £20 from Volvo dealer, they wanted £80 to install it, but i managed to do it myself by dismantling the armrest unit.... which was a total pain!!

It's a strange one..when I plug a usb cable in it charges my phone but when I plug the usb stick in I'm getting nothing? Just waiting on a new usb stick to turn up in the post as wondered if it was the stick?

It's most likely the format of the music files you have on the usb drive.
Are they protected like Apple mp4 files?
