Default V60 -Air conditioner service required

Hello. I have a V60 Hybrid (2014 model). I changed the AC compressor last summer I got an error. All worked well afterwards.
Yesterday I tried the AC (although it is still winter here), but I got the following message on the dashboard Air Conditioner Service Required. I cannot find any info about this error message on the internet. Anybody know what would it mean?

Shortage of gas ? Did you refill the compressor with the proper amount of gas ?

Sadly, this seems common on the hybrids, I've had 2 done by volvo within 12 months. Although the ac error should come on as soon as you start the car as I thought the hybrid used the ac to manage the battery temps?

It should have 12 month warranty if you had it done at volvo, I would take it back and get it checked.

There is a Facebook group for hybrid owners and you will see a few times of a repeat problem once it happens, it's strange, some people do 200k no issues, some seem to be getting thru a compressor every year. Doesn't effect every car, but the ones it does it seems to come back.

As for the original question, the message is just generic message saying to get the ac system checked, might something completely different!

Do you suggest I should change again the AC compressor?! I will ask the dealer that changed it last year in July. I am not able to check if the AC is actually working as it is still cold outside and the AC air would not be different than the cold air from outside...
Regarding refilling with gas, I have not refilled anything. Whatever they did in July 2019 when they changed the compressor I do not know, but surely the message did not appear as long as I used the AC until end of summer. Afterwards i did not use the AC anymore until last weekend when I gave it a try.
What other reasons may be for such error message?

Yes, I changed the AC compressor it in July 2019. I did not fill up any gas. Should not the VOLVO service do it when changing the compressor? I used the aC after they changed the compressor between Jul and Sept and no such message appeared. I suspect that if summer kicks in with hot temperatures, when the car will try to cool off the battery, if the AC does not work I will get another warning message or the battery will not charge anymore unless the AC works.. I don;t know what to say anymore...

I would contact the dealer who did it, they would sort the gas out when changing the compressor.

Personally I would always leave the climate control in auto, ac doesn't tend to like not being used for long periods and it stops the windows misting up in the winter!

Hi,

To be honest, I use AC only in summer to save energy (power consumption)/fuel, otherwise I will end up running only 20-25 Km with electric (don't know if this is normal or not). Without AC on, I am able to run 35-40 Km in summer and about 28 Km in winter. How can I check if the compressor starts when I press the AC button ON? I started the engine motor and listened if anything happens when I press the AC ON (I expected a slight lower RPM for a second when I press the button, as it happens to any other car), but no difference, as if I did not press any button. I am wondering if the compressor even starts...

During winter if I use only the heating without AC on, windows are never misted.

I will visit the VOLVO workshop
