help needed to locate bumper side marker light wiring connector
4 forty having got the bumper sidelight marker out after a strugle, i can not find how to disconnect the unit from the wire, it is suposed to have a plug/socket conector on it somewere, but i can not find it. also the wire goes through a hole no bigger than the wire itself, so how can a plug be drawn through it in the first place. your help/advice would be greatfully recieved, especially from someone who has replaced this unit before. i am led to believe that the unit is a volvo part costing over £15, so,as i have nothing to loose, i am going to prise it apart and see if i can get a new l.e.d. fit it, and reseal the unit with silicon sealer. n.b. haynes tell you to remove the indicator unit to gain access to the rear of marker to release the clip, no way! a child could not get their hand through the small hole, i found that releasing the bottom 4 fixings on the inner plastic wheel arch and squeezing your hand behind the spoiler was much easier. paul |

RE: help needed to locate bumper side marker light wiring connector
i have now succeded, here is the method. remove the bottom 3 screws securing the inner plastic wheel arch, and gently prise away the spoiler, this gives access to the rear of the unit to release the securing clip, you will see a very small hole that the wire passes through about 4 inches forward of the unit, this has a slot at 45 degrees to remove the cable from the hole] then undo the 5 securing screws for the plastic engine floor pan,you will then find the connector beneath the foglight, done! saving £25 dealer labour. i will post later after i have stripped down the old unit to see if it is possible to renew the l.e.d. and reseal the unit with silicon. paul |

RE: help needed to locate bumper side marker light wiring connector
I am assuming that this is the little running light thing on the side of the front and rear bumpers?
If this is correct I would be glad of any further advice you can give as I noticed last night the one on the osf of my S40 has a broken lens. Duncan |
