Default V70R (97) Sticking, awkward clutch pedal, help please...

So about a year ago I replaced the engine in my R, while I was at it I also put in a new clutch and slave. What I neglected to do at the time was to grease the input shaft, I have no idea why I didn't but this time it didn't happen. Since then the cars been fine until the last 6 months, the clutch pedal has become very 'sticky'.. it creaks, it's stiff and sometimes sticks to the floor, this can be overcome usually by just pushing it repeatedly and it will come back up but if it doesn't then I have to pull it back up with the tip of my toe and then the pedal will not push down at all for a few minutes then it'll start to work again but will continue to be stiff and er sticky. If the car is then left for a few hours it'll be a lot easier when I return and will ease up while driving BUT it can still stick. As you can imagine this is a nightmare in traffic, if the car is in regular use every day it seems to be a lot better (not perfect though) but if its left for anything longer than a day it goes back to being like this.

I spent yesterday replacing the master cylinder thinking it was this that was causing the problem as it wasn't in the best of conditions and I had tried to replace the seals in the existing one when things first started going wrong but it hasn't made the slightest difference. I know that the replacement one I obtained was second hand but what's the odd's on it being faulty as well? or is it simply the fact that the input shaft does indeed need lubricating?
I physically cant go on with it the way it is and need to get it fixed once and for all so does anyone have any experience with a problem like this or have any suggestions please?

Also if it is the input shaft that needs greasing is there a way of doing it without removing the gearbox or contaminating the clutch?

It may just be the bushes on the pedal itself...
This might help,
