60K service
The maintenance on my 1966 Amazon was doubly problematic in that neither the time nor the cost could be forecast with any accuracy. It might go in with a strange clonk and I'd get it back two weeks later with a replacement clutch and cylinder head gasket, and a groan-inducing bill. Four months ago I bought a S40 2.0 CD (1998 50K) in the Volvo SUC programme. I've been very pleased: a faulty indicator lever and wiper arm have both been replaced free and in all respects the car has been unfailingly reliable and a pleasure to use. It is going in for its 60K service soon. Excuse my ignorance: what should I expect the service to cost? Will the total cost fall to me or does the SUC warranty bear any of it? And (assuming nothing awful is found) should I expect to get the car back the same day?

RE: 60K service
I'd hazard a guess that it depends on your gurantee.
I brought my 2.0T V40 outside the SUC programe, as it differs here in the Netherlands 100K or x years is the maximum they are willing to give and my 140K(km) 98 was both too old and had too many KM's on the clock. However the gurantee I got covered everything apart from tyres. When I took it in for service 2 or 3 weeks prior to the gurantee running out they replaced the rear discs, with pads, under gurantee as 'they seemed to be wearing quickly' the service cost me exactly what they said it would (170 euros). As for time, the service should take an hour or two I think, as you don't have your camvelt to do at 60K. Mine was done quickly, but a respray of the top of the tailgate took an extra day. Stu |
