Hello all,

I think you guys that are running on the wrong tyres should inform your insurance about the change of tyres from the original factory specification so that you do not have a problem if involved in an accident.
This applies to whether it was the previous owner that changed it and not you.
If factory fitted was 215/45/r18 and you changed it to 225/40/18 or 205/50/17, insurance will not pay if involved in an accident.
If you inform them about the change your premium may go up a bit but not much. So, don't risk it not informing them.

Hi jonkempe, not to bad atall and very quiet compared to my old 215/45/18 Nankang they were worst tyres i've ever had on any car and were on when I bought it.
They were very noisy compared with these Kumho's, reason I went for 225/40/18 is stupid prices quoted for new tyres and the car isnt worth spending over £100 a tyre not doing it.

Hi all

I've just replaced the back tyres on my V50 2.0d SE Sport with a pair of 225/40/18 after getting two punctures in one week! I've still got 215/45/18 on the front.

I couldn't quite figure out what the final concensus on tyre pressures of 225/45/18 tyres should be? Is it a case of its just the same as the 215/45/18?

I just checked the label on the filler cap for my car and it said for both 250/40/17 and 215/45/18 is should be 32psi all round normal load and 36psi all round for full car (5 people and luggage).

I've set mine to 34psi all round to be in the middle The only thing I really worry about is damage to the tyre due to wrong inflation level. Some extra MPG would be nice though!

Sorry for the delay in replying, I have been running mine at 32psi, then upped them to 34psi. Didn't really notice much difference to MPG, but I did feel that the torque steer seemed more noticeable and felt a bit light at speed.

So in conclusion I am now running them all at 32psi which I believe is the correct pressure

I've stuck with 32psi in mine I think thats best pressure and feels about right, although not having much luck with mine as two of my wheels aren't holding pressure which was a problem on my old tyres so basically must be my wheels but they were badly kerbed when I bought it and all the laquer is coming off them they look a mess.
So i'm going to have them all refurbished and hopefully that will sort the tyres out aswell and stop them losing pressure, taking it in a couple of weeks so once there done i'll upload some pics!!.

Took my car for a drive this morning on 34psi for the first time and it did feel a bit light on a few corners and on the dual carriageway.

Think I'll drop them back to 32psi. As long as the psi should be the same between 215/45/18 and 225/40/18 then I'll stick with that.
