Default oil filter cover / housing

morning everyone just a small issue that i need help on 'just gone to start doing a oil change on my v50 2.0d 2004 and noticed that the previous owner has snapped off the the plastic nut oil filter cannister my problem now is how can i remove the cover to get at the filter & where can i get hold of a new plastic cannister tried flea bay just keeps coming up with filters anyone know the correct name/part for black plastic cover guess the last owner didnt have the 36mm socket to remove it also can this be fitted without draining the oil again as i have changed the oil prior to inspecting the oil filter

Hi

it may be possible to use a BOA strap wench or a oil filter strap wench to remove the filter top you could replace the filter and use the same methord to do up the filter housing. Buy a new one and replace next time.

thxs 4 quick reply you read my mind just going down to halfords to get a boa strap my promblem is now trying to find a new housing cover cant find one any where on net need to know correct part name to search thxs

I would reuse the old one and contact frf volvo swansea and get them to post you a new in time for next service.

Why not get a new one from FRF at Swansea and change it now! Will only waste a little bit of oil and once done properly will be fit and forget basically. Also, just in case something happens.
