Default C30 HID kits

Hi there

Would like to fit hid's to my r design, do I have to have the error free kits or can I just buy any h7 kit?

Thanks

Lauren

they are now illegal for MOT and will fail unless factory fitted .

my boyfriend has ran hids in his last few cars( mostly aftermarket other than his 350z) without any problems, none of them had headlight washers or self levelling either.

New MOT regs are tightening up on the fitment of HIDs so it's no longer as straight forward as putting the kit on the car, although what has been sent to the test stations in way of guidlines might well differ to whats been seen on the internet - Only time will tell - Mike

From what I have found you will need a canbus set to get past the bulb out warning. I have no conection what soever to the company but I have also found that hids4u and there ultimate or pro kits are the only that I have not had at some point trouble with.

What I have is the 55w pro kit but I also changed the projectors for Lexus LS460 bi-xenon with modified shutters.

Hi

Thanks for the replies. My boyfriend (who you've spoke to above, he has been posting for me. He knows cars more than I ever would). We thought that the car had the levelling etc with it being an R Design etc. (First Volvo etc, still getting to grips with it all). I don't want the telling off etc. But again, thanks for the reply, really helpful for anyone wanting to do it!

A Volvo with an R on the badge used to mean quite a lot, these days it tends to indicate a few bits of extra trim and styling but not much else - Mike

You may also need 4700-10000 uF capacitor on the 12 V side of the ballast to even out the PWM voltage that goes to the lights otherwise your HIDs will flicker (like mine did before fitting the caps)

Hi

I've recently fitted a set to my V50 - got them from car mod shop http://www.car-mod-shop.co.uk/

Address:
Car Mod Shop LTD

(if you call you'll get better price than website)

i went for 4300k kit - I have since had the daylight running lights turned off
and when fitting I grounded direct to body not through car wiring which can cause wiper motor failure.

As for MOT - it's a 5 min job to swap back to the H7 bulbs so don't worry too much plus your car has projector headlights so has a proper beam cut off.

Really was worth doing. I didn't need the warning cancellers either. Never had any problem
