Default Anyone Running 19" s

As Title anyone running 19" on a S40/V50 if so hows the ride, and any rubbing issues running 235/35 R19, just asking as I've been offered a set & this may sound wierd but I'm finding the 215/45 R17 a harded ride than the 225/40 R18 Alloys I previously had on

Rubbing depends on ET.

Ride, as the C30 is the same is still comfortable (on Volvo lowering kit!). Not back breaking.

You should be able to put 225/45/17 on front and back running ET52.5

ride on 19's will be fairly shocking!

Lightweight wheels also improve the ride a fair bit - I found my dampers were worn on mine contributing to a 'crashy' ride - at about 55k when I changed them.

The 17" s are 42 offset, I'm just not convinced about the white wheels, and I foolishly thought I could return them to exchange for different style, but unfortunately the small print says any special order can't be returned, then even further down in the small print it states any wheel & tyre package is classed as a special order!!

I've seen a set of black 19" s which are a 45 offset with 235/35 r19 just don't want to risk rubbing issues, also I may just end up keeping the white ones just can't decide......

I also can't work out how the ride is slighty worse (harsher) on the 17" than the 18" s

It will be harder on 19" than on 18" than on 17". 19" has a lower profile tire and therefore not enough rubber to use as a "damper".

My 19"s with 225/35 R19 are slightly harder than the stock 18" with 215/45 R18.

Right head ruled heart on this one and I decided against the 19's, I have another question though, I've seen another set of wheels I'd like but the Offset is 35, I see the range for the S40/V50 is 38-45, does that make the 35's a no no, or might they be ok? I guess I could use a 5mm spacer but wouldn't really want to go down that route....

Offset is 52.5 on the S40/V50

On the back, 225/45/17 rubbed on ET40 17x7.5

you'd get away with it on ET45, 225/45/17

personally I think you'd regret the 19's

What about getting your current ones sprayed or powdercoated another colour?

Ride (and grip) is a lot better on 225/45 than 215/45 or indeed 205/50.

I've decided against the 19s I've seen a very nice set (the ones I originally wanted but couldn't afford) of 18's but they're an 8 x 18" wheel on a 35 offset do you think these would fit, the old 18's were a 40 offset and were fine the new 17's are a 42 offset, most the wheels sites I've checked state a 38-45 offset for the S40/V50, I'm just not sure if the 35 offset will clear the inner arch & suspension gubbins (I'm assuming the 35 will move the alloy closer to the car)....

I'm starting to like the wheels more, I wanted something different, I was in two minds just got them trial fitted and wrongly assumed I be able to return the wheels & get some other if they didn't suit the car (should have read the very very small print, I just read the bit that said non special orders can be returned, didn't read the smaller print about a page further down that said that any wheel & tyre package are classed as 'special order' & special orders can not be returned)

I'm just missing the 18's (they seemed to fill the arches better), I may well just keep them and at some point in the future get them resprayed a gunmetal or black colour....

I noticed the grip was a lot better on the 225/40 R18 compared to the 215/45 R17 but they in turn were better than the 205/50 standard alloys

The 18" I really like are being offered to me for stupid money (unbelievably cheap) so I'm not exactly sure how the offset work as my current 42 offset wheels sit further inside the arch than the old 40 offset wheels (the opposite of what I thought) so just wanted to check if I got the 35 Offset wheels and added 5mm spacers would that make the offset 40? and therefore usable offset on my S40???

No, that would make them an ET30! And they will stick out even further.

The lower the number, the more they stick out. The higher the number, the more they sit in the wheel well.

You can't make the ET higher, by putting spacers in. They only drop it even further.
