I’m 28 and will be picking up a 2002 V70 SE Lux hopefully tomorrow! I’m coming from a Rover 75 though, so I reckon in doing “negative aging”. By the time I’m 70 I’ll be driving hot hatches

29, been driving a Volvo S60 for the last 4 years. Other than my brother, no-one ever made the "Volvo's are an old mans car" joke.

However, the other day I mentioned my next car might be a Jaguar, and in unison my friends said "those are cars for old people!".

Strange how these things work...

29 and driving an 07 V50, coming from a 940 and numerous volvos before. Looking at either a V60 or xc60 before Christmas.

Constantly get jokes about old man's cars but I remind them that most Volvo's have heated seats, huge boot spaces and my D5 has 185bhp, not bad for an old mans car

I wonder where they get that idea from, 'tickedon'? I've always thought that the current line of Jags very clearly says successful young professional. I don't think it is a coincidence that both my dentist and my doctor drive one.

Tata have done a great deal to raise their image in recent years, with some justification. There is an apocryphal story that says Rattan Tata bought the company because his father owned an XK120 in the fifties. He liked the car so much .....

Regards, John.

No longer a volvo driver myself. Dad has had a c30, v40 and now v60 polestar.

After my c30 i went to an mx5. Then had that and my bmw 640D gran coupe for just over a year and half. Sold the mx5 recently so back down to one car being the BMW.

The new volvo stuff is nice but i just cannot get over just a 4 pot sorry after having the 3.0 diesel in the BMW. It is a work of art.

Jaguars to me have always been"Dad's"car new*, or bookies, landlord's car secondhand. And the new XE is one of the most unreliable on the market(in the segment).

I'll have a Lexus.

Jon.

*only the one new - XJ6 S2.

P.S I'm 87 and no longer drive.

Since I moved my allegiance from Saab to Volvo I love the comments of" its and old mans car,"I took three BMW drivers out for the day in my 850,non of their cars had the required headroom, after 50 or so miles the comments stopped for a few more miles then,This is a lively old bus, followed by ,more room in than mine, after that nothing and I have never had an adverse comment since.
