Yes I know - can't you just hear those violins.
Three year old ex-lease ones with fairly low mileage should be available for £30k or less.

A bit like being told you have to have to go on a long run in a diesel to stop the DPF blocking.

As someone said on here, "Tail wagging the dog"....

Next, Dyson will demand that you clean up your whole house every day to stop his "digital" motor from seizing.

I'm not aware of any automakers keeping logs of how long are your drives.. So no- it's not a bit like that

I have just done all the maths and the total cost to me and my employer for a new T8 for the next 3 years gives me a monthly figure of x. If x were then a cash sum paid to me which I paid income tax on it would give me just about enough - after income tax - to run a new XC90 for the next 3 years......

So at circa 18 percent the cash and car equation is in balance. Any more and everyone will just take the cash. Colleague has just had a quote on a new FPace. BIK is 36 percent average over next 3 years. Guess what - he will take the cash instead......
When I got my T8,it was a no-brainer getting it due to the government grant and low BIK tax(Thanks again Philip for all your useful advice).

When my lease runs out next year, I am not so sure a company T8 XC90 would remain a tax efficient purchase.

The problem is I dont feel like going back to diesel and would prefer a hybrid or EV.

It will not be as tax efficient as it was, and certainly not as a full EV, but still far better than any ICE.

Hard part is if there his anything out there that meets your criteria that is available next year, certainly will be by 2020.

They don't need logs, just blocked DPFs. And when the DPF blocks they tell you that you have not done the right kind of driving, as a few of my colleagues have been told, albeit by Audi/VAG and we know all about their engines..... :-)

Cars with variable service intervals will store the number of cold starts and short journeys and peak power acceleration events in the ECU memory, because these are some of the events and parameters it uses for calculating the service interval, along with a time limit.

Sure- variable service intervals are calculated based on start/stop cycles, engine speeds etc- but the raw data cannot be extracted as such ("umm.. let's see how much highway driving did this guy do.."), let alone to cancel the manufacturer's warranty based on one's driving style (or because of a blocked DPF..)
