Bit of an update:

Car is serviced up unti June (normally has all the consumables annually - dizzy cap, rotor, plugs, oil, filter etc etc etc)

Had a brake fluid change last year

Recent aluminium radiator

Recent thermostat

Recent new carb

Recent fuel pump

Recent water pump

Recent new water hoses

Recent rear exhaust

Cambelt 2 years ago/2500 miles ago

Brand New battery

This is an absolute steal at £750! Somebody get this beast bought!

Again I will say, if you are interested, PM me and I will forward on the owners number. Car is located in West Yorkshire.

Steve

horrible affliction isn't it! I thought I had got over my 240itis as i haven't had one in the stable since January last year having offed my last two to Mr Sam Glover. If I can secure this one then I will be back to Volvo's and Dafs.

At the moment I have:
Volvo 940 Sport Estate
1993 Daimler Double Six V12 6.0l
1990 Jay XJ6 Sov on LPG
1973 Daf 44

I've just bought a 1973 Daf 55 Marathon

The Daimler, Jag and 44 are all up for sale (pm me if interested)

you know - my Double Six has done 95k and is a wonderful automobile in many ways. But my 940 has done 200k and is sooooooo much better screwed together and is only 3 years younger than the Daimler which will have to have a few bob spent in the next 3 years on bodywork alone!!!

Look at this 244 - it's a 1979 and is in great nick - whilst it has been worked on and is clearly very welll maintained the fact of the matter is you need decent raw material to start with and after years of trading older cars i have come to the conculsion that Volvos represent the best value for money and reliability by a mile. Dafs are also up there on build quality and many of the features you see in 1970's Volvos where adopted fwhen volvo took over Daf.

I often look at 1970's british tin with drool in my mouth - a wonderful V8 P6 for instance but apply a bit of noddle to the issue and you steer well away unless you love mig welding over complex bodywork in a non stop battle with the rust!

I saw this 244 and had a chat the owner at the RWD meet in Mansfield last year. The description is 100% IMO.

(Goes off to look at bank statements and check scope for 'creative accounting'.......)
