Full driveway or not - that looks a lot of clean Volvo for the money! If only it was a bit closer...

What an absolutely cracking looking thing - personally I'm a big fan of white motors and of 240 saloons - this is amost heaven on earth (would have preferred manual transmission tho', but I think I could live with it) and for £125, what a bargain - surely this can't be much more than the scrap value (not that I would ever contemplate this)? How far is it from Catrine to Sussex???

Unfortunatly, not that cheap!

Try shiply though, you get a good few quotes coming through. Don`t expect anything less than about £340 though. Good luck, looks a cracking car for the cash.

Thanks for the reference to Shiply, RF82 - two quotes so far - £436 and £400. Hmmm.

Smile 240s in the wrong place!

Frustrating that so many nice cars are for sale just now at the wrong end of the country!

This nice H-reg 240 at Sussex-by-the-sea, plus these two in Hampshire and Surrey:

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C153821/

http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/...hp/carno/92771

That's three seemingly very handsome white 240 GL autos all within a few miles of each other ' dahn sarf', all with apparently no takers.

Interesting too the wildly differing values place on each car by the respective vendors. The C reg (£1000) and D reg (£750) cars are both 2.3 litres, the H reg (£125) is a 2 litre, according to the data on the DVLA interweb service.

I've been on the lookout for a good 164 or early 244 for a while now, but I have to admit that I'm really tempted by any and all three of these cars to abandon that plan and invest instead in a 'future classic'!

Tessie, the rail fare from Dumfries to Brighton is about £110, so if the H-reg is road legal, the cost of getting to Catrine would be that, plus 450 miles at 30mpg, which would be 15 gallons, say £80. Add a bit for incidentals and the cost of getting the car back home for you would be around about £200. That car's RFL runs out next week, and presumably the MoT is short too. Total acquisition cost adds up to £325 - if you can secure the car for £125. Collecting it and driving it home would make it a very long day, but it would be possible in a day, assuming the car is up to it!

One other thing, the C reg car - can it really have air-con?

Cheers

Jack

Another thought: We are an owners club, and I wonder if in circumstances such as these where prospective buyers are 100s of miles from likely purchases, a more local member could have a look at a car on behalf of the more distant member. I appreciate that in these days of litigation and liability this could be fraught with legal issues, but then again, it could just seal a few otherwise un-done deals - and get more good cars to new good owners.

Does anyone know if this car is still available? Tried the number a couple of times, but can`t get an answer.
