Default XC70 tailgate locked

Hi, my first post, l have been checking out the previous posts on this subject, my warning light for tailgate open started flashing, the tailgate would not open the rear wiper moving very slow and number plate lights not working. With difficulty l removed the carpet trim to try and open the lock from the inside, but l could not open it. Time was pressing so l decided to wire the number plate lights from the 12V socket as a temporary measure to keep the boys and girls in blue happy. So l snipped the supply and wired the lights from the socket. Just had a press of the remote button on the off chance it would work, imagine my surprise when the tailgate popped open, checked the rear wiper, working fine. I pulled back the rubber sleeve on the cable between the body and the tailgate, the black fiber tape was worn in way of the clips but l could find no damage to the wires. So investigations to be continued.

Ahh, very similar issues to me! I’ll check my loom too.

I’d like to figure out exactly what switch it was that gives the “closed” and “open” state. I’ll do some more investigation in the light too.

Do keep us/me informed of any progress and I’ll do the same!
