Whats the difference.......
Hi,
what is the difference between the 1.7i and the 1.8i engines in the 400 series. I have looked for induction kits etc and some say they are for the 1.7i - would these fit on the 1.8i? Thanks |

RE: Whats the difference.......
Hi...me again!
The difference between the 1.7i`s and the 1.8i`s was the amount of injectors. I have to admit, i`ve not come across a multipoint 1.8i. The 1.8`s are generally singlepoint injection and kick out about 89bhp, whereas the older 1.7`s were multipoint injection and kicked out about 101bhp. With regards to fitting the induction kit, im not sure. If no luck on here, try contacting the place you saw the kit. Again, good luck! Dan

RE: Whats the difference.......
Thanks a lot.
Why did volvo change from the 1.7 to the 1.8 if it is a lower power engine? Also can anyone tell me the bhp of the 1.7 carb engine that was in the older 400 series cars? Is that engine the same unit as was in the 340 1.7 carb? Thanks |
