D5 163 Tuning box
On sale here is a tuning box for the 163bhp diesel.
I bought it from a member on here, and other than check it worked on a 2005 XC90, its been sitting in a box unused. This is not just a resistor (as many ebay mods are) but a commercialy made device. It has a pot to allow adjustment to the fueling inside the black box. Installation is a quick plug in job - to your existing loom. PM me if you need pictures. I am selling it for £35, by cheque, bank trasfer or Paypal gift, including postage to a mainland Uk address. No posting to your uncles cousin's next door neighbour in Nigeria.... This is sold as tested but no warranty going forward etc etc - same conditions in which I bought it - please ensure you understand that! David

Hi, Very interested if it's a unit which will increase bhp and fuel consumption?
In central Scotland if you're near, Cheers, Simon 077587 19434 |

The "non-ebay" tuning boxes, such as this one do not just alter the temperature that the ECU "sees" - they alter the fueling... by changing the injector pulse length or fuel rail pressure.... you can't do that with a pot...

Can you describe what the difference was when you installed/tested it?
Any warning messages or lights since or after installation? Why did you not keep it connected? Please post pics or email when possible. Cheers |

No error lights or any downside noted at all on our Xc90. Car was sold and box removed prior to sale. Pictures are not much to look at - its a box with a cable that joins the existing volvo loom - no cutting or messing around - plug and play. For £35, its the cost of half a tank of fuel and no big risk to have a play.... David

It certainly pulled a lot stronger - very noticeable...as you would expect. The initial take off hesitation also seemed to be removed too. I dont rev the engine anyway so unsure what top end it gives - certainly makes the car more perky. The amount of "tweek" is adjustable, as many of these boxes are so you could play away to see what suits you and your engine. I left it as it was supplied. I did not pay attention to the fuel economy to be honest. Its a cheap toy to have a play with, and if you dont like it, punt it again here or ebay and get your cash back! David
