Hi I have a knocking noise on the front drivers side which seems to come from the wheel! When first starting, from cold, and going over speed bumps there is a noise like metal on metal but after driving for a few miles the noise goes away. I have even gone back over the same speed bumps without hearing the noise! Help!

Assuming the wheel nuts are tight and the wheel bearing ok, most likely the ARB drop link, or possibly lower wishbone bush worn out - both very common. I've changed all that stuff on mine to eliminate various knocks and noises, pretty straightforward. Jack up the offending side, remove front wheel and have a tug on the ARB drop link first to see if you can replicate the noise as it's probably that

OP you would be better off posting in the correct forum for your car. This only deals with V70 upto '99.
