Question Limited slip differential (LSD)

Out of curiosity, is it possible to fit a limited slip differential? Anyone done it?

Quite a few people have it.

The Quaife LSD is most commonly used on our models

I've heard the Gripper diff is the best, it can be fitted in 15 minutes...

If you have the gearbox out!

Thanks for the replies guys... Ouch the MTX75 Quaife LSD is over £700! Anyone got any idea how much it would cost to then fit it and if anything else would be required?

Would this interfere with the car's traction control and would require software changes etc?

A lot to fit. Generally you'd fit it when replacing the clutch, slave cylinder, flywheel etc while the gearbox is dropped.

Most places won't usually charge to fit a LSD whilst it's all in bits as it's pretty plug and play, you can expect to pay around the same labour costs as a clutch replacement though if you're not doing the clutch

You would definitely need to replace the clutch whilst you've got everything stripped it would be daft not to and I imagine the clutch would be subject to more strain with an LSD because wheelspin is reduced.

Thanks for the replies guys, seems like it might be a bit too expensive as an upgrade for a car that's only driven on the road and not raced, good to know though!

Cheers.

Expensive they can be, but by far the biggest impact on a car that any modification will ever do. The way cars pull through corners with a proper diff fitted is comical.
