I had forgotten about a 240 Volvo that was on the loose in Leamington. I spotted it parked in a front garden earlier on. Two lads used to bomb about in it. They had sprayed it matt black, tinted all the windows excluding the windscreen, big bore exhaust, tinted rear lights and to cap it all...................................... White wall tyres

If I can get a photo of it, I'll stick it on here A sight to be savoured

Actually I first read your post as "They had sprayed it matt black, tinted all the windows including the windscreen..."

There was a guy on Turbobricks years ago that had a 240 with Mercedes headlights and a blue shag carpet interior. He eventually also replaced the front bumper with one of those "ground effects" kits for a Hyundai that didn't even come close to fitting.

Other times they do actually put good engines in then wreck the car by neglecting to uprate the brakes to cope with the extra horsepower, or by running out of talent on corners... just like our apprentice who swears blind that he was only doing 40mph when he sideswiped a kerb, but managed to snap the rear axle in half, sheared the alloy wheel in two and reposition the engine 5" to the right hand side of the bay...........he blames manure from off a tractor, we all believe it might have been a load of bull***t!
