Very unfortunate and I feel very sorry for what happened to you but it just reinforces my stereotypical image of the used car business . I recently bought a 2001 V70 T5 7 seater and checked out nine different cars before buying one from a private seller off ebay , the car is perfect , fsh , cost just over £2k and has a new main dealer fitted autobox, new engine mounts , new ETM , 12 months mot , have done 3000 miles in it and everything still works the way it should . Some of the other cars I checked out first were being sold by dealers and mostly they had faults with the autobox from minor to verging on imminent complete failure but in every case they wanted top money . I was told there was nothing wrong with the gearboxes and it was implied I didnt know what I was talking about ( they were all of the same opinion ) , what I do know is that a new auto gearbox for a V70 costs £3691.62 fitted so its not surprising the car dealers didnt want to know , I just feel sorry for whoever eventually bought these cars .

Default Don't buy a car from Paul Harlow

Hi used to be Bournemouth Autobahn, then a2b cars & now just trading cars. I paid a £500 deposit on the condition that I checked the cars history. It has 4 owners (not the 2 as advertised) and suspect it's been clocked. He will not refund me my money.

His home address is 54 St Albans Ave, Bournemouth, BH8 9EQ if that helps anyone. I also have his home phone number: 01202 249999 and personal mobile: 07917 726885.

He is very dodgy & I recommend anyone to avoid buying a car from him.

So many con artists.Simply know they can get away with it -the law is weak ,enforcement virtually non existent. No wonder so many end up at the main dealer.

Dont rule out ebay for car purchases. I bought my 2002 V70 se with 3 owners, 100,000 miles, fvsh up to 70,000 and then independent servicing. Paid £2346 on the auction With final bid falling to me, 7 months mot remaining. The car is an absolute beauty! 170bhp, purrs, i prefer driving it to my 09 plate BMW its that good!

Bought my last few cars from Ebay, as long as you have a good idea of what your looking at and are willing to do the background checks then there is no reason to avoid buying from anywhere really.

Smile Paul Harlow

I have now bought 5 cars off Paul Harlow over the past 17 years and they have all been perfect!! I think you have to take in to account he is one of the most respected car dealers in the Motor Trade community and Retail industry.
When you think he probably sells 500 cars a year over 20 years and these are the only complaints can't be that bad!
What about a forum for all the Happy customers?
Unfortunately only Bad news travels Fast.
Good luck Paul and thank you vey much for all your kind and generous help over the years you are our Car Guru and Hero.

How odd that your first post should drag this up.

Might you be Paul Harlow?
