340 home service
Hi all, I'm planning to give my 340 1.7 a bit of a service, just wondering what to do. Obviously change engine oil/antifreeze. I am going to top up the gear box oil, rather than renew it all. Um... anything else?? I have lost my Haynes manual... should be fun!!
Cheers. |

RE: 340 home service
From Mr Haynes :
WEEKLY (or 250 miles) Check oil, coolant, brake fluid, tyre pressure and condition, screen washer fluid (including screen wash), all lights operation, horn(s), battery terminals for security and lack of corrosion. Check battery electrolyte level (if not sealed for life battery). For the rest ( as it gets a bit of a long list and I do not know how competent/able/willing you are ) I would recommend an investment in a replacement for the 'lost' book. It could save you pounds in garage fees.

Check pads, discs, drums, shoes, timing belt, tie rod ends, suspension ball joints, HT leads, vacuum pipes, coolant hoses, coolant reservoir, radiator, tyres and replace as required. Replace plugs, rotor, dizzy cap and any broken bulbs and that Haynes. They have a lot of them on e-Bay.

RE: 340 home service
do not forget the most important item ie body so inject box members with anti-rust wax or old egine oil esp rear crossmembers and sills. Scrape off any loose underseal usually near jacking points and protect.
