Default Anti-skid service required message

Good afternoon all,

Apologies in advance as I feel I maybe asking a repeated problem.

I've just taken my dad's s40 1.6 2007. He's had it 10 years and due about the last 8 this message had been on with the triangle yellow warning light on the dash.

I've done a little research and believed the car needed a steering angle sensor. I've got, admittedly a second hand one, and put it in the car today. It has made no difference. Does this need resetting now I've fitted another? Any suggestions??

Many thanks for reading

Yeah I know, unfortunately the diagnostic tests said there is nothing wrong with the system, hence now asking for suggestions.

it can be as simple as a faulty battery some places do a free check . but without a good fault finder you have no chance of checking the fault , i know delphi does a full system check on brakes and steering

I agree with the posts above, if you can get a scan of the car using VIDA/DICE it should show some error.

On my V50 AWD the other day it had the ABS Light + Anti Skid / Spin control error message come up. I scanned the car and it told me the right front wheel sensor (ABS) had a faulty signal. BCM-0020 was the code mine had.

It was well stuck but I replaced it and my error went away.

There are a number of reasons for this though, so what fixed it for me might not work for you, and without VIDA/DICE it would have been more $$ in parts and trial and error.
