bye bye 164...
unable to live with the 17mpg thirst any longer i have sadly parted company with the most admired car iv ever owned...it went, via ebay, to germany this morning!!!...i enjoyed every minute with the old beast and have immediately replaced it with a much more economical jeep wrangler....erm, 4 litre......oops...why do i do these things......

i always start off with good intentions...went to look at a ford ka...and bought a 4 litre gas guzzler instead...still, it does have the performance to go with its, no doubt, crap mpg......the 164 was forever being burnt off by oaps in 12 year old nissan micras!!...the jeep really does shift...184hp and a manual gearbox make 60mph come up pretty unfeasibly quickly!!....it doesnt have the sheer class and charisma of the old swede though and truth be told, i doubt il be volvoless for long...i never am!!!

yeah probably could have done with a good tune up...carbs had been set up pretty spot on but i still had to look at the timing.....it always felt like it would pull a house down, the torque impressed but the pick up always felt kinda lethargic...would still top the ton tho....which scared the bejesus outa the vectra drivers!!!.....having fun in my wee jeep jus now....its comically quick to 60/70ish and is averaging around 22mpg much to my surprise......
