i had a good quote for the blasting and hotcoating of the front crossmember , so went with that option - for max protection to pre-long the life of it eta end of next week i should have that back

Are you able to get the crossmember degreased by dipping in a hot caustic bath or the like after the shotblast? as the baking process causes oil and grease to leech out of the laminated joints.
I had mine shotblasted and powder coated and had to degrease and spray the joints after coating. Also had to spray the whole cross member to colour match.

Engine
hi ya folks
well i phoned my bodyshop up and they have been busy installing a new oven so my bits have been delayed for another week i could have popped in and picked up the bootlid but i said it was not worth it , so all the panels will be picked up at the end of this week all ready and shinny so i did what i had on the back burner and a job that was needing doing ready to install when the times right yes the Engine a nice B20 - and i never take anything at face value until i know myself due to being told it was a good engine i needed to make sure prior to fitting . i stripped it down and gave it a once over and was very pleased on the overall condition plenty of horses left in it after inspecting the bores and the head so gave it a clean up and fitted a new head gasket - it may look at the top of the bores its scored but its where i had been cleaning and did the wd40 test i was showed when i was doing my training you lay some wd40 inside the bore and turn the engine over by hand you can then see what the rings in each piston are doing ( a old rocker was used at this stage so no waste or paint went near the inside of engine a new rocker cover will be fitted later on ) and got it ready for its first prime coat , the top coats will be applied tomorrow and i can then clean it up once dry polish the timing cover etc so thats what i have been doing today and im pleased i have a strong B20 engine to fit with twin su`s also a stainless steel exhaust should go well with the car another worry over Robert

Too bad about having to buy the brakes, but now you have peace of mind; hard to find 'em in good nick alright.
Looks like a rewarding afternoon's work to finish-off with a nice red block, knowing what is inside is good too.
