Volvo 740 GL Gear Box
Hi
Just looking for some advice, i have a strange symptom with my manual gear box when i try to engage first gear from neutral to first there is a slight delay sometimes and then the gear is engaged with no clunking noise, no nasty noises from gear box all other forward gears are smooth, also sometimes when i try to engage reverse sometimes and not all the time the reverse is a bit notchy to get in, i guess everything has to be in sink for the reverse gear as when i select a forward gear then reverse it goes in nicely. I have not change the gear oil so dont know the state of this and would poor oil give the problem with first gear, please could you tell me how to change the gear oil and would gear oil addertive help. thank you in advance Frustration is born out of persistance. |

It could be the clutch going or yes it could be that you have bad fluid in the box.. Changing it should be fairly simple (sorry I've only ever working on auto's) but there should be a drain plug under the box somewhere or it might be on the side of the box (assuming you know what you're looking for)
Try changing the fluid in the box and also see if the selector arms are loose or in anyway damaged. Charlotte |
