Default B230ET (760T) intercooler please F plate

Garage at the end of road says the intercooler is blowing oily air. This should be impossible as the turbo was new less than 2 years ago and has almost no miles on, so the air blown by the turbo should be totally oil-free. Garage insists that the intercooler is leaking air!

To be on the safe side I would change the intercooler - but certainly that year and for a bit after the intercooler has the air connections at the top, not halfway down the sides as in the later B230FTs. And there are temperature sensors on the rad by the steering column and an atf or oil cooler by the battery, so swapping in a later intercooler is going to be tricky at best.

The correct intercooler is NLA at Volvo. There is an aftermarket custom one that the website says will fit, but it won't on a 760T, IDK if it will on a prefacelift 740. On the 760T bonnet hits the intercooler and the intercooler cannot be dropped enough.

And I know somebody else who wants one too. So if anyone can get two known good examples of the correct intercooler, I'd like them!

Is that the type of thing that you're after?

Thanks Natmargetts, I am checking part number now.

Hi Dai - no the all alloy ones do not fit a 760T - Bernie the mecco at Trust who used to be Braydons has tried (I assume it came from you) - the bonnet fouls the top of them and you cannot take them down without metal to metal contact at the bottom.

But I might well snap up the used ones, if good, from you - for me and for Steve who has a customer who needs one and who has spent I gather about £10k getting his 760T to looking absolutely factory fresh eat your diner off the engine status!

Default Intercooler - 760T

Part number correct - bought on ebay.

Dai, if your alloy ones are from Skandix, they do not fit (see above) - and the maniac who wanted a new one is still declining a used one - which may only be his position as long as his existing used one is still working. He has had all the underbonnet stuff colour coded too, and silicon air hoses - truly truly spares no expense.
